Before we move into 2009

The end is near - the end of 2008 that is.. and so, a new year will dawn, one that is named 2009, and... ah balls to it...  I could rabbit on a diatribe but I shalt not, for time is not long, and my xmas toys await me...

LEAGUE TABLE
The table shows that the mighty Lisbarnes are but 1 point away from lying top, as the WKK's have ended the year on a high, the top spot, the apex, the 'n all that..  Celtic are lying 3rd, 9 points away from Lisbarnes, but possess 2 games in hand, which if they win both games will make them only 3 points behind, so its still all to play for !  Right !?!

The Groovers , Bloods, Barnes, Loko and Madras are all within 3 points of eachother, so the mid table looks very tight, though it is interesting to note that the Bloods have played a lesser number of games and so have ample opportunity to make up more points and reach for the yonder beyond..   You will have to excuse my wordings.. I am merely looking to make my task of commenting on this a tad more interesting for myself !...  not that this years competition is dull, but my sitting here at my desk is.   Aaaaaaanyway..  Uncle Bob are 2nd from bottom, and Hendrix are... well... to flower it up... erm... well... they are there.

THE CUP TABLES
Well, we have 1 more round of cup games to be played on the 25th Jan.  So, I wouldn't want to predict anything, but we do have Barnes proudly standing at the top of Grp 1 on 9 points, with WKK and Madras in 2nd and 3rd position with 6 points, and all are playing on 25th Jan.   WKK are actually playing Madras, so whoever wins that game will go to the main event that is called the James Rettie Cup, which actually means our proud Barnes are through to their first ever main event semi's !  Still all to play for for the semi's of the Barnesalona Cup for Bloods and Bob.

We also have, in Grp 2, the Groovers and Lisarnes moving into the next round of the JR Cup.  Loko, Celtic and Hendrix still to fight it out (by kicking a ball only thank u very much), for the semi's of the Barnesalona Cup.

POSTPONED GAMES TO DATE
The weather has once again taken its toll on our games, and you will receive an amended and updated fixture list via email.  You will see the games are to be played in April.   The fact that we are only playing 1 round of cup games to reach the semi's has proven most fruitful - thank you Eddie for relentlessly never giving up on getting the point across ;-)

And to SUM THINGS UP in a brief but courteous manner that befits the bullshit coming out of my fingers onto this keyboard..

It has been my most pleasurable season to date.   Why?  Simple - no major issues, no scandals, no pettiness, just good wholesome friendly competitive and respectful football.  For that, I thank the managers immensely - thank you !   Cereal.

A weekend of cup games this time, and some seriously off the wall score lines !

We had:-

Loko 1 Lisbarnes 1
Bloods 0  Barnes 3
Wkk 12  Bob 1
Celtic 0 Groovers 5

Seems the Bobs were men short and WKK had to hand them couple players in 2nd half with score line 6-0 at half time...  Celtic in a shocking defeat losing by 5 goals against the skillfull Groovers - seems the mud and rain helps them in their game (nice rhyming ditty don't u think..!) (shut up Cedric).  Barnes with another good score line beating the Bloods, meaning they are in the Semis.   And Loko done good against the mighty Lisbarnes - is it the throw on is no longer working ! ;-)

In essence, The JR Cup semi's are still up for grabs between WKK and Madras in Group 1; Loko have an chance (ok ok a slim one) if they win their last game and score many many goals against Celtic, in Group 2.

In terms of the Barnesalona Cup; kinda still open for the rest of the teams.  So, still things to play for !

Our last 3 weeks of footy are upon us, before that beautiful thing the Pagans owned, that was taken over by religion and then retailers (oh the cynicism..)... end.

Updated tables !

Sa- bai- dee !  (Sabadi) or hello in Lao.
Come back from Laos to find many interesting score lines have been played in the 3 weekends I've been away..   And what fantastic weather we had yesterday - snow, wind, downpours in the morning followed by blue skies and sun in the afternoon.   I understand the games played in the morning were much fun !  I had to cancel the afternoon game..

- Lisbarnes finally beaten !  Their first loss of the season - so it can happen ! Wow ;-)
- WKK beaten by Barnes 6-1 !!  Another Wow !  ;-)
- Hendrix drawing against WKK - erm... wow again..
- big score lines for fixtures of the 23/11/08 ! wow wow.
- wow
- w
- 0
- w

Apologies for the above ludicrousness (is that a word!?).

I end it here.

Oh no - have to make further comments !   WKK are now in top spot with Lisbarnes in unfamiliar territory, lying in second place 4 points behind but with 1 game in hand.  Celtic in 3rd with 12 points, and Groovers in 4th (doing well !), closely followed by Bloods, Barnes and Loko with 9 points.  Our friends Hendrix have also secured their 1st point by drawing with WKK.

Also to note - a big thanks to everyone who sent emails offering help to the Bob's in terms of players - was really nice to see - unsure as to whether you would find that kinda thing happening in other leagues.

The real end of this thread.  Ciao.

Scores:

Bob 1  WKK 3
Groovers 2  Barnes 1
Madras 2  Bloods 6
Loko 0 Lisbarnes 4
Hendrix 1 Celtic 6

Good healthy score lines.. especially for the Celtic and the Bloods both scoring 6 goals against their opponents..  I understand WKK had a 5 minute window of opportunity vs the Bobs where they put 2 past them.   Good result for the Groovers against the Barnes, and they are now sitting in 4th place, behind the Bloods, with WKK and Lisbarnes still battling eachother on goal differences.  Hendrix still to secure a point inthis beautiful Barnesalona league, with Loko just ahead of them having won the 1 game.

Celtic v Groovers is postponed this weekend and re-scheduled for 21st December (unless I hear this fixture is not possible).

Note the league game between Bob and Bloods to be played on 16th November is now a CUP game due to the cancelled CUP game between them on 19th October was postponed.   The LEAGUE game is scheduled now for 5th April 2009... when is Easter ..?  may have to revisit that.. but leave it there for the time being... don't be so god darn lazy !... ok ok (Ced has a google moment..).... so its the weekend of the 11th April, so all is good !   Waffle waffle.. and eggs.

And the last one to mention is the game Bloods v Celtic postponed from 21st October to 29th March 2009.

Have a good few weeks guys and see you when I get back.

Cup games round 2

Fun and games on Sunday mornings !   Having to calm down an irate ref because a team had not turned up on time (reason was simple - went to the wrong location..); to be fair, the ref had a 1pm ko game to ref later on, so couldn't really afford to kick off late..  anyway, calmed him down and reasoned with him, and hope he felt a little better.  Just to re-iterate guys - you have a contact list with all managers - you are thus able to contact each other DIRECT, without having to go through me :-)  Obvisouly, if there is a matter you cannot resolve between managers, then of course, call me.

On to the scores - we had a postponed game this week the Bob's vs Bloods (second game postponed for the Bloods..) - will arrange a new fixture.

So, only had 3 games played.

Barnes secured a healthy win against Madras, winning 3-1 (good win considering how strongly Madras started the season!).   Celtic lost to Lisbarnes 5-7 !!  Sounded like it was a classic cracker of a game.. any comments from either team would be welcome.. odds are there will be no comments ;-)   And the Groovers beat Hendrix 2-1; comments of "we were robbed" though details are sketchy.. well, to tell you the truth, I have no details.. but if any comments would like to be placed... I'm not desperate for comments really..

Well, that pretty much wraps this commentary.   Oh, except to mention to everyone that I am away from 31st Oct and back the 10th Nov - not going far, but if anyone does have any advice of where to go and what to do in Laos, then, any comments will be gladly received..  all refs, in case you were wondering, have already been organised, the agency is aware of my absence, and I will be sending you contact details should there be issue with refs not turning up or late.. or vice-versa.   If you cannot field a team, please contact the agency direct to let them know of cancellation - no later than Friday !  And of course, let your friendly opponent know too so they don't turn up wondering where the f**k are they!?

12th October - League Fixture Number Quattro

I know its getting repetitive, but just trying to keep the sunny scenario going - last Sunday was particularly orgasmic - warm (!), blue sky, and plentiful sun with only one complaint.. it was too darn bright !  Anyway, weather stuff over, moving on..

Scores:
Barnes 4 Hendrix 2
Bob 0 Loko 2
WKK 3  Celtic 0
Lisbarnes 4 madras 2
Bloods 8 Groovers 1

Thanks for the call to let me know no refs had turned up for any game - could you please (if anyone does call about refs) in future, call me back or text me to confirm any changes to your statements ! It was a welcome relief to see, when I got to the Elms, slightly pissed off the agency were not answering my calls about the ref situation, that all refs had actually turned up - possibly 5mns late..?   I could relax and enjoy the rest of the sunny day.  Sounding like a bloody novel this..

Anyway, I got my 35 mns of football, playing for Loko (first 11-a-side game this season), and duly obliged, with a sweet first time cross into the box that fell sweetly and exactly for Roger to head it home for the 1st goal of the match - have to say, on a personal note, felt nice to see my crossing is still there !  Thank you to Loko and to Dale for the outing.

I also had the pleasure to watch the pm game between Groovers and Bloods - always a tantalising affair full of "whats gonna happen this time!", but, as both managers have stated many times since the beginning of the new season, they are looking to stamp out all backchat, and, as it turned out, thats pretty much what happened - much healthier game of football, and more enjoyable for all parties involved - well done Said, Michael & Saf (still dunno how to spell your name dude!).   And more importantly - thank you.

On another note, we have reached the 100 goals in the league - 101 to be exact or 123 counting the cup competition.    Hendrix are now the only team with 0 points since Loko got off the mark (hey Hendrix, if you need me to cross a few balls..) - pressure is on for you guys to get off that 0.    WKK and Lisbarnes are still tied though goal difference is in Lisb's favour.

Starting to think I'm writing too much, so I'll stop there - am sure you all have much better things to do than to read my scribblings.  Laters..  cup week next weekend.
