Shame today was spoilt by certain players still taking themselves too seriously, but, granted, they are very important people and... aaahh fuck 'em- can't be arsed to elaborate cos tired of wasting my time and breath with those kinda people anymore.

Final Cup Round were ACTUALLY played !

What!?  noooo......  u mean... the games... they... they...  they... took place!?   Darn right !  Sweet Jesus Mary of God !  There is a .... 'n all that.

So glad the games were played - a burden of our minds - we can progress.  The scores were:

Uncle Bob 2  Barnes 2

Loko 0  Celtic 1

Lisbarnes 2  Hendrix 0  (game forfeited)

WKK 1  Madras 2

A great result for Madras who pip WKK to the main event semi's ! And a great one for Bob who had to at least draw to go through to the semi's rounds - if they hadn't, Bloods would have gone through on goal difference, so that was an important draw for them.   Well done to Barnes for getting to the main event semi's too; in fact, to all teams making it.

By the way, we had 50 goals in Group 1 and 48 goals in Group 2.  Total of 98 goals in 40 games..  Lisbarnes scored the most with 17 goals, Barnes had best goal difference +10, Uncle Bob conceded the most goals (16).

and they didn't play football once again..

last weekend, all games were cancelled due to waterlogged pitches.  Council decision taken on the Friday.  I heard the words swimming pools uttered to describe... ah sod it.. can't be arsed ... pissed off... bloody weather... bloody bloody.   Still... got my health.. ah shit, just coughed crap out onto my keyboard..  oh yeah - i've re-arranged the cup games from last weekend to be played this weekend.  + groovers can play bloods in the league.

And THEY played football once again !

Never thought we'd play again !  ... 7th December - postponed... 14th December.. postponed... 21st December.. we played one game..   4th Jan... postponed... 11th Jan - postponed...  and after Saturday night's ridiculous downpour, my optimism for kicking off the season took a damper, and I was feeling a little downtrodden with the thought of postponing yet another week... but.. no, the pitches were actually playable !  Hallegoddamnluyah!  And I have to say, when I got there and smelt the wet grass, and saw the pitches, I felt like i'd arrived home..  I know it sounds stooopid.. but that smell.. i reminisced that Apocalypse Now scene, when the Sky Captain refers to the smell and how it conjurs up feeling of victory.. and felt a similar pang in my heart and soul.. aaah that smell took me back :-)    ENOUGH.

Which means that Lisbarnes have now taken top dog position in the league.  WKK are 1 point behind..  Well done the Barnes for setting ur seasonal record of not losing against the WKK!   I believe that is a correct statement.. Great score for the Groovers.. not so good for the Bobs, but I am very happy to still have them in our Barnesalona midst, as it was touch and go that they would still be around., at the latter end of 2008.   Nice one Terry !  And Celtic have 2 games in hand which means they are still very much in the top of the table mix if they win all their games.

One small comment.   Lets turn up before kick off time.. this applies to those who don't obviously.. there are many other people who turn up on time, and want to kick off on time.  Players and refs alike.   Lets respect that shall we !  :-)

We have our final cup round games next weekend.. still positions to play for..  watch this space.  Unless we have to postpone... IT WON"T HAPPEN... fate is now tempted..  please be good on us weather.. 'n all that.

Before we move into 2009

The end is near - the end of 2008 that is.. and so, a new year will dawn, one that is named 2009, and... ah balls to it...  I could rabbit on a diatribe but I shalt not, for time is not long, and my xmas toys await me... 

LEAGUE TABLE

The table shows that the mighty Lisbarnes are but 1 point away from lying top, as the WKK's have ended the year on a high, the top spot, the apex, the 'n all that..  Celtic are lying 3rd, 9 points away from Lisbarnes, but possess 2 games in hand, which if they win both games will make them only 3 points behind, so its still all to play for !  Right !?!

The Groovers , Bloods, Barnes, Loko and Madras are all within 3 points of eachother, so the mid table looks very tight, though it is interesting to note that the Bloods have played a lesser number of games and so have ample opportunity to make up more points and reach for the yonder beyond..   You will have to excuse my wordings.. I am merely looking to make my task of commenting on this a tad more interesting for myself !...  not that this years competition is dull, but my sitting here at my desk is.   Aaaaaaanyway..  Uncle Bob are 2nd from bottom, and Hendrix are... well... to flower it up... erm... well... they are there.

THE CUP TABLES

Well, we have 1 more round of cup games to be played on the 25th Jan.  So, I wouldn't want to predict anything, but we do have Barnes proudly standing at the top of Grp 1 on 9 points, with WKK and Madras in 2nd and 3rd position with 6 points, and all are playing on 25th Jan.   WKK are actually playing Madras, so whoever wins that game will go to the main event that is called the James Rettie Cup, which actually means our proud Barnes are through to their first ever main event semi's !  Still all to play for for the semi's of the Barnesalona Cup for Bloods and Bob.

We also have, in Grp 2, the Groovers and Lisarnes moving into the next round of the JR Cup.  Loko, Celtic and Hendrix still to fight it out (by kicking a ball only thank u very much), for the semi's of the Barnesalona Cup.

POSTPONED GAMES TO DATE

The weather has once again taken its toll on our games, and you will receive an amended and updated fixture list via email.  You will see the games are to be played in April.   The fact that we are only playing 1 round of cup games to reach the semi's has proven most fruitful - thank you Eddie for relentlessly never giving up on getting the point across ;-)

And to SUM THINGS UP in a brief but courteous manner that befits the bullshit coming out of my fingers onto this keyboard..

It has been my most pleasurable season to date.   Why?  Simple - no major issues, no scandals, no pettiness, just good wholesome friendly competitive and respectful football.  For that, I thank the managers immensely - thank you !   Cereal.

A weekend of cup games this time, and some seriously off the wall score lines !

We had:-

Loko 1 Lisbarnes 1

Bloods 0  Barnes 3

Wkk 12  Bob 1

Celtic 0 Groovers 5

Seems the Bobs were men short and WKK had to hand them couple players in 2nd half with score line 6-0 at half time...  Celtic in a shocking defeat losing by 5 goals against the skillfull Groovers - seems the mud and rain helps them in their game (nice rhyming ditty don't u think..!) (shut up Cedric).  Barnes with another good score line beating the Bloods, meaning they are in the Semis.   And Loko done good against the mighty Lisbarnes - is it the throw on is no longer working ! ;-)

In essence, The JR Cup semi's are still up for grabs between WKK and Madras in Group 1; Loko have an chance (ok ok a slim one) if they win their last game and score many many goals against Celtic, in Group 2.  

In terms of the Barnesalona Cup; kinda still open for the rest of the teams.  So, still things to play for !

Our last 3 weeks of footy are upon us, before that beautiful thing the Pagans owned, that was taken over by religion and then retailers (oh the cynicism..)... end.
